Getting caught up with photos

So, I sort of let the photo posting get away from me over Christmas...
22 December 2010: Snow!!!
Sometime in the early morning, it started snowing... the day before there had been bare traces of snow scattered around in places shielded from the sun, 24 hours later, we had this!

23 December 2010: Julbord!
Thursday was the annual Julbord over at
tomte's family's house... it really isn't Christmas until we've had pickled herring! This year, Tomte made one of my favorites, Janssons Frestelse (aka Janssons Temptation), which sounds like it should be a dessert, but is definitely not -- although the name is particularly apt for me, since I was really trying to avoid anything with cow's milk this year... I kept giving in for small tastes of wonderful things like this:

And now a glimpse at the real dessert table, including yummy Bullar and Fruktsoppa:

24 December 2010: Christmas Eve
Years ago, a family friend from England taught me how to make trifle and I've been doing it for Christmas Eve ever since. This year's was a bit different, in that I used goat milk for the custard and didn't top it with whipped cream (letting everyone add their own later, so that I could avoid it), still turned out really well!

Earlier in the evening, I introduced the youngest nephews to NORAD's Santa tracking website... and they were hooked! Here they are looking over their Uncle
rackham's shoulder, counting down the seconds until Santa moved to a new location.

26 December 2010: Virtual driving on the Kinect.
This was too cute to pass up... Rackham and our youngest nephew trying out the driving game on Xbox Kinect.

27 December 2010: Snowy Mountains.
A visit to Utah wouldn't be complete without a photo of the snowy Wasatch Mountain range!

28 December 2010: Come to the dark side, we have cookies.
For Christmas this year, we gave my sister-in-law and her family a bunch of the Star Wars products from Williams-Sonoma. In this shot, the twins are working on cutting out some Star Wars themed sugar cookies (made with goat butter so I could eat them too!) with help from their mother and Rackham.
